We would like to extend an invitation to participate in A Dinner with 12 Strangers, an event series sponsored by the Ohio University Alumni Association. DW12S is an event whose goal is to strengthen the OHIO community by connecting students with alumni and faculty. The dinner is free to all attendees, and open to any OU-Southern student. Be sure to register for the dinner quickly, because we have a limited number of open seats available (12)! The dinner will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Ohio University Proctorville Center. Dinner will begin at 6:00pm.

The host this fall is Ohio University alumnae Jan Rader. A Native of Ironton, Ohio, Jan Rader joined the Huntington Fire Department in August of 1994. Ms. Rader is the first woman to reach the rank of Chief for a career department in the State of West Virginia. She holds an Associates Degree in Fire Science from Marshall University and an Associates Degree of Science in Nursing from Ohio University. Jan holds many fire service certifications and is also a Fire and EMS Instructor in the State of West Virginia. Since November of 2014 Chief Rader has been serving as a member of the Mayor’s Office of Drug Control Policy. The purpose of this task force is to address drug addiction in Huntington and the surrounding communities and create a holistic approach involving prevention, treatment and law enforcement.

A Dinner with 12 Strangers was launched by the OAA in 2010. It is a tradition that is growing throughout colleges and universities across the U.S. The idea is simple: attend a dinner with students, faculty and alumni to share a good meal, good conversation and a good time.
